Microsoft has bought Israeli-owned security software company SecurityCore for an undisclosed sum, according to The Wall Street Journal.
SecurityCore, which is based in Israel, has developed a new version of its security software known as SecurityCore-X, which was recently certified by the US government to help defend against the so-called H5V ransomware, the WSJ reported.
SecurityCore was launched in 2016 by the Israeli government and is now backed by the IDF.
Security Core-X is designed to provide more robust encryption, as well as better malware detection and prevention.
The software, which can be used to remotely monitor and protect computers and networks, is used by the Defense Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency.
The US Department of Homeland Security has deployed it to its computers in the event of a cyber attack.
In a statement to The Washington Post, Microsoft said it has “a long history of developing products that are secure and reliable and we’re excited to work with the Israeli-led company to further strengthen security.”
